Easy Instant Pot: Tea
If you can’t tell from other posts, we love our instant pots, and we use them almost every day. We even like to make drinks in it! And our favorite drink is tea! Yep, Lubby makes a sweet black tea that is perfect on a hot day, or any day. I honestly drink so much tea that my dentist complains about the staining.
Equipment
- Instant Pot
- Measuring Cups
Ingredients
- Tea Leaves or Tea Bags
- Sugar (Optional: I like my tea sweet, but you can leave this off)
Directions for Tea
Add water to the Instant Pot
Fill the Instant Pot up to the max line for pressure cooking with water.
If using sugar, you can pour it in now. We use just under 1/2 cup.
We find that four (4) tea bags work well for us, but you can adjust as needed.
Take all paper and staples off. This includes the paper bit at the top.
To make it easier to remove the tea bags at the end, tie all four bags together.
Throw the tea bags into the Instant Pot, close the lid, and make sure the valve is set to seal. Push the pressure cook button.
Set the timer to 3 minutes.
There is a lot of water in the pot, and it will take anywhere from 15-25 minutes for the pot to come to pressure. Once it comes to pressure and finishes cooking, you will need to release the pressure. Do a controlled quick release.
A controlled quick release is to start releasing pressure immediately and watch it. Open and close the valve as needed if it starts spitting too much.
Again, the pot is FULL, and it will take time for the pressure to be released. I’ve timed it and it can take up to 10 minutes. Once you get the pot open you can use a fork to pick up tea bags and dispose of them.
Now you can, very carefully (IT WILL BE HOT!), use hot pads to take out the Instant Pot liner to cool on the stove.
Once it is cool you can pour it into a tea jug. You can drink it warm or cold. I like to add lots of ice and drink iced tea!
Until next time
