Equipment
- 9×13 Baking Dish
Ingredients
- Chicken
- Marinara Sauce
- Mozzarella Cheese
- Italian Bread crumbs
- Egg
- Parmesan Cheese (optional)
Directions for Parmesan Chicken
The first step is to pound the chicken flat. If the chicken is all the same size then it will cook evenly.
Put your Italian bread crumbs into a shallow dish. We keep around old pie tins for this. They are large enough to contain the chicken while having high sides.
In another shallow dish scramble an egg. Now for the fun part! Use one hand to dip the chicken in the egg (wet hand), then place it in the bread crumbs. Use the other hand to cover with bread crumbs (dry hand). Or, if you live at our house, both hands are clumpy hands!
Place the breaded chicken in the baking dish and wash off your clumpy hands! Cook the chicken for 20 minutes in the oven at 400F.
Cover the breaded chicken with the marinara sauce.
Top with shredded mozzarella cheese and cook for another 10 minutes or until the chicken is done.
You should have a delicious looking dish of parmesan chicken that is ready to eat!
We cooked up some pasta and used the extra sauce to have a side of spaghetti with parmesan.
Until next time,
