Directions for Cabbage and Sausage
Cut up your onion and bell pepper into slices. Not sure how to do that? Here is our post on slicing an onion and one for slicing a bell pepper.
Cut up the cabbage, and put everything into a bowl. Set it aside for now. Yeah! All the prep work is done. We like easy things here at Hubby and Lubby!
Get out your sausage. We like to use these “breakfast” sausages because the flavor pairs well and they are easy to break up. (There is that easy word again!)
Throw them into a big pot. We happen to have a Dutch oven, but really any large pot that you can cover will do.
Cook and separate the sausage into little pieces.
When you are done you should have something that looks like this. You can dump some of the oil out if you’d like, and add a healthier oil later. That is what we do. The sausage part of cabbage and sausage is done!
Add in the onions, bell peppers, and cabbage. Your pot will be pretty full but it will all cook down.
If you took oil out, you will need to add some back in. We need something to keep everything from burning and sticking.
Sprinkle your seasoning on top and give the whole thing a good stir. Get that seasoning everywhere!
Wow! Nice Job!
Cover and cook it on low. You will want to come back every now and again to make sure to stir it. Once everything is nice and soft, it is ready to eat.
We like to eat our cabbage and sausage over rice.
Until next time,
Hubby
