Directions for Stopping the Glug!

I don’t know why, but I feel like I should explain what is happening before jumping right to the solution.

TOO MUCH INFORMATION ALERT!

The phenomenon of glugging, observed when pouring liquid from a container such as a box, can be attributed to the formation of a vacuum within the container while pouring. As the liquid exits the container, it creates a negative pressure inside, causing a vacuum to form in the space previously occupied by the liquid. This sudden change in pressure prompts air from the surrounding environment to rush into the container to equalize and fill the void left by the departing liquid. The rapid influx of air results in an audible glug sound that is characteristic of this process.

Wow! Glad that is over!

We’ve tried all the tricks, including pouring from the opposite side, but none of them work as well as this one!

Take a knife and on the opposite side of the opening make a small slit.

The air now has a place to enter, while the liquid pours out. And just like that we’ve stopped the glug!

Are you worried that the container won’t seal anymore? Don’t be. A small piece of tape covers the hole, and you can store it in the refrigerator.
